Rover 75 Press and Awards

Top Gear

Top Gear Magazine is not so impressed by Rover 75.
In short terms: "Sorry Rover, you have failed and missed a great change of a needed comeback". Compared to Alfa 166, Audi A6, Saab 95 etc, the Rover 75 looses in every category.
Rover 75 will not be on any of their most favorite lists.

CAR Magazine

CAR Magazine, which has had a habit of jumping up and down on Rover in all its recent incarnations seems to give the 75 a qualified yes, being particularly impressed with the car's ride quality, but questioning whether the package is better than the opposition, rather than as good as.
They particularly like the 2.5 V6, because the KV6 is apparently a superb engine for smoothness.

Car of the year 1999

The new Rover 75 has been named What Car? Car of the Year 1999. The prestigious title was awarded to the 1.8 Club version of the car at the What Car? annual awards dinner, in London on Monday, February 22. The same model also won the Compact Executive sector award.
The honour follows Rover Group's success in the 1998 awards when the Land Rover Freelander was named What Car? Car of the Year
In giving the award, the What Car? jury particularly praised the Rover 75's exterior design, build quality and driving experience, and were impressed by the car's refinement and anticipated running costs.
